Would that the comment spam would stop…
so maybe it’s been too long. I’ve heard that comment spam robots find inactive blogs and flood them with posts.
I’ve got blocks in place that they don’t get what they’re after – the spam never actually reaches the site – but it’s still annoying to wake up wit 150 “please moderate comment x” messages in your inbox. I used to have an automatic blackhole script for stuff like that – but it meant a) I got 2 messages per spam (1 for “please moderate” and 1 for “this comment has been blackholed”) and b) it often blackholed honest-to-goodness comments. So maybe posting this will help. I’ve actually got 4 or more posts lined up that I need to make soon – and I kept putting them off because I didn’t want to lead with a “sorry I’ve been away” post – I swore I wouldn’t do that – this blog is for no one’s benefit but mine, really – but this incessant flood of comment spam is driving me nuts! if a placeholder post will stop that, then so be it.
